Purpose Statement
The job of Assistant Director - Career & Technology Center (CTC) is done for the purpose/s of assisting the Director of the CTC in providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for site services, and staff at the Career and Technology Center; providing students with information on career and/or post high school educational opportunities and serving as a resource to others; enforcing established policies and regulatory requirements; coordinating school activities and addressing issues, situations and/or problems that arise or with high school and adult students; and developing funding resources for existing and proposed programs and/or services. This position coordinates our Adult Ed programming at the CTC. Salary is based on previous administrative experience. This job reports to the Director - Career & Technology Center (CTC)

- Assists the Director in managing CTC operations; the maintenance of services and the implementation of new programs and/or processes for the purpose of providing career and technology services within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements.
- Assists Director in monitoring budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances, and related financial activities for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
- Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g. direct and building administrators, DESE, public agencies, community members, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining career and technology services and programs.
- Develops liaisons with business sources and school support groups for the purpose of subsidizing the acquisition of new technology by soliciting and obtaining funding, hardware, software, expertise and/or community support.
- Facilitates and participates in meetings (e.g. personnel actions, financial procedures, regulatory requirements, actions involving outside agencies, enter-district needs, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a District representative.
- Facilitates communication between staff, instructors and students for the purpose of providing a healthy learning environment and keeping everyone informed.
- Manages student behavior for the purpose of ensuring a safe teaching and learning environment for all stakeholders.
- Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g. hiring, counseling, supervising, evaluating, providing professional development opportunities, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring necessary department/program outcomes are achieved.
- Prepares a wide variety of reference, presentation and administrative materials (e.g. strategic plans, budgets, funding requests, evaluation reports, data analysis, grant requests, policies and procedures, improvement recommendations, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, requests and issues, providing audit references, and/or meeting compliance actions.
- Presents information on a variety of topics related to administrative responsibilities (e.g. financial information, overviews of program/services, policies and procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing general information, training others and implementing actions.
- Researches topics related to career and technology education trends and direction (e.g. relevant policies, best practices, staffing requirements, financial resources, etc.) for the purpose of developing new programs/services, ensuring program compliance with established requirements, securing general information, and/or responding to requests.
- Responds to issues involving staff, conflicts in policies and regulation , community concerns, student requests that may result in some negative impact and/or liability if not appropriately addressed for the purpose of identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing plans of action that efficiently resolves the issues.
- Supports CTC Director as needed for the purpose of providing assistance with administrative functions.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing
other persons within a small work unit; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to effect the organization’s services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional
lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine
finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a
generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere.
